Baba Yaga by TormentedArtifacts Baba Yaga by TormentedArtifacts
While I won't say much about this piece, I will say this. I still haven't seen the Dark Knight. This definitely isn't intended to be a joker homage in any way shape or form. We clear?

Media: Plaster, and a lot of hand sewing needles.

ugh... just thinking about the feeling of getting a thousand needles pierced through your mouth... god that'd be disgusting. Just shows how talented of an artist you are enough to scare the shit out of people..

I know you submitted this months ago, but I was looking at masks and found your gallery... Anyway, this is beautiful and frightening and captivating all at once. Is there any reason you named it Baba Yaga? I know she is the witch whose house stands on chicken feet... And how exactly did you mount the needles on the mask? Sorry for the long comment...

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Anyways, yes, you've got the right myth all right- chicken-legged house, flies around in a mortar and pestle....

...and has sharp iron teeth.

As for mounting the needles- that part was both easy and hard- the mask's plaster, so it was mostly a matter of just sculpting them into place. Of course, packing in 50+ needles that tightly became a literal pain in the fingers all too quickly.

AH! The sharp iron teeth I've never heard, or if I had, I don't remember! Thank you! Then this mask is certainly fitting.
